This Scene Study Lab is ongoing month to month and consists of four Labs per month, one per week.

Actors will be given scenes and paired with a partner. Through script analysis, you will get on your feet and begin to block your work. By week three you will be completely off-book and the scenes will be performed in a start and stop method. In the final week, performances will be done without stopping. You will then be critiqued and given notes on your work.

The primary goal of this Lab is to find the emotional core, the truth of the characters and scenes. Ultimately, it’s about finding a way to be alive in the scene in a truthful and meaningful way.

This Lab will cover:

• Script analysis
• Finding the emotional core
• Indicating and performing: how to break those habits
• Being in the moment: acting and reacting
